The name Tripura is said to be originated from its ancient ruler ‘King Tripur’. Tripura is surrounded by Bangladesh on its North, South and West. The state is connected with the rest of India by NH-44 that runs through Assam and Meghalaya.

Agartala: – Agartala is the capital of Tripura and the largest city in the state. Well-connected by Road, Railway and Air with rest of the country. It is also one of the cleanest city in India. Food hunter would find Agartala as a hotplate of street food at a cheaper rate than other parts of India. Indeed one can travel within the city in shared autos at low hire.

Neermahal, the Water Palace: – This palace was built by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya in the middle of the Rudrasagar lake. This is a beautiful fairytale palace used as summer capital by the kings. Neermahal is 53 Kms away from Agartala in Sepahijala District.
Unakoti : – Unakoti is famous for huge rock sculptures and vertical rock cuts of 6th to 7th Century. The rock cuts depreciate the shiva of the Hindus. It is also pilgrimage site of Tripura. The gigantic head cuts of Shiva and Ganesha has special attraction among the tourists. The central gigantic carving of Shiva is known as Unakotiswara Kal Bhairava. All stone carvings are located in the beautiful landscape of the Unakoti Forest.
Pilak: – Pilak Archeological site is situated in Jolaibari , South Tripura. It is the treasure house of Hindu and Buddhist sculptures dates back to 8th century. Pilak festival has been organized every year in the month of December.
Buddhist Stupa, Baxanagar, Sepahijala: -The ruins of Buddha Stupa found recently after denudation of natural forest area. It is 32 Kms away from Agartala along with the boarder of Bangladesh at Baxanagar. Hidden mystery under earth yet to reveal by the Archeologcal survey of India .
